Batter Up coaches are expert guides who have played at the highest levels of the game yet still have fun with it all. They are chosen for their mastery of the game, encouraging approach to player development and their winning attitude about both the game and life.
Mike Irving founded Batter Up Baseball in 1996. He played NCAA Division 1 baseball for four years at Grand Canyon University and the semi-professional Toronto Maple Leafs baseball club. He worked as a baseball scout for Inside Edge Scouting Services for 13 years and has coached youth baseball camps for more than 25 years.
Coach Tops is Batter Up’s Fall/Winter Instructor. He played for Tusculum University and was recognized as a Top 100 Player in the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL). He currently manages the Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club and works as the catching instructor for the Ontario Blue Jays. He has been with Batter Up for nearly a decade.
Coach Tre is one of Batter Up’s Summer Camp instructors and also does private instruction. He currently plays for Minot State University, a NCAA Div. II program in North Dakota. With his recent experience with the college baseball recruiting process, he is able to guide young players interested in making it to the next level.
Jack coaches Batter Up's summer, camps, fall and winter programs, as well as doing Private Instruction. He has been with Batter Up since he was 8-years-old, starting as a camper. In 2015 he became an Instructor. He is currently coaching AAA 16U Mississauga Majors. Jack s a recent graduate from
Coach Owen played professional baseball in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. He came on board with Batter Up Baseball first as a guest coach and is currently our lead instructor for the summer camps, fall and winter sessions and is part of our private instruction program.
Coach Clay played NCAA Division 1 baseball at the College of Charleston in South Carolina and was drafted three times, twice by the Atlanta Braves and once by the New York Yankees. He now serves as a guest pitching instructor at Batter Up Baseball's summer and winter programs.
Coach JD played professional baseball in the Cincinnati Reds organization. He came on board with Batter Up Baseball in the summer of 2019 as an instructor and private instruction coach.
Michael Mueller coaches at Batter Up's Fall and Winter programs and does private pitching instruction. He is also the pitching coach for the Ontario Nationals and plays for the Brantford Red Sox in the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL). In college, Michael played NCAA Div. II baseball, first for Scottsdale Community College and then as a starter with Arkansas Tech University.

Coach Katie has years of experience playing fastpitch softball, most recently at the university level for the Laurier Golden Hawks. She is also the President of the Laurier Women's Athletic Association. Katie has been an instructor with Batter Up since 2016 and will probably be here forever.
Jackson is an instructor at Batter Up's Summer Camps. He plays baseball with the CPBL Terriers and has attended Batter Up as a camper before becoming an Instructor 3 years ago.
Mackenzie has been at camp from a young age which lead her to play rep Softball. She has been coaching our Little Batters for the past 6 years. She has committed to attend University in Arizona this fall to continue her studies in Early Childhood education as a college athlete.
Izzy has played Rep fastpitch softball through PWSA for years. She has also been coaching both Baseball and softball for the past 3 years. Izzy has been with Batter Up for 4 years both as a volunteer and now as Instructor. She attends the University of Ottawa
Cooper is an instructor at Batter Up's Summer Camps. He plays rep baseball with the Mississauga Twins and has attended Batter Up camps since he was
5-years-old. He is Mike’s oldest son.
Ann is the Director of Operations for Batter Up Baseball School.
All 4 of her boys have been campers through the years. She joined the team in 2019.
Batter Up Baseball’s student volunteers are fun, helpful and have helped create an intergenerational culture of care in our camps and programs. Many are returning players who spent their summers at Batter Up’s camp and want to come back to be a part of the leadership and the fun. Student volunteers receive community service hours and several have gone on to be hired as staff.
