Batter Up Coaches are incredible people of integrity who have played a high level of the game yet still are able to have fun with it all. They are chosen for their mastery of the game, encouraging approach to player development and their winning attitude about both the game and life.
Mike Irving
Owner
Mike played four years of Division 1 baseball at Grand Canyon University and started Batter Up Baseball in 1996. He's spent his life coaching and mentoring youth and young adults and has built Canada's largest baseball camp.
Izzy Carpenter
Director of Operations
Izzy has been coaching both Baseball and Softball with Batter Up for 10 years as a volunteer, Instructor and Team Leader. She grew up playing Rep fastpitch through PWSA and now plays college softball at the University of Ottawa. Izzy has represented Ontario at multiple Canadian National Championships and is coaching Rep softball with the Mississauga Tigers.
Jack Baker
Director of Player Development
Jack coaches Batter Up's off-season programs, as well as doing Private Instruction. He has been with Batter Up since he was 8-years-old, starting as a camper. In 2015 he became an Instructor. Jack has graduated from Brock University. He is currently coaching a AAA baseball team with the Mississauga Majors.
Jessica Henry
Head of Softball
Jessica has been at Batter Up since she was 8 years old and currently plays college softball with McMaster University in Hamilton. Jessica has represented Ontario at multiple Canadian National Softball Championships. She was first a camper, then a volunteer, and now is our Head of Softball.
Jackson Torrance
Jackson attended Batter up as camper and volunteer, now he is an Instructor and Team Leader. Jackson does a ton of our Private Instruction sessions with Batter Up. He's played college baseball at West Hills College Coalinga in California and at the University of British Colombia.
Jackson Irving
Jackson was the youngest Batter Up camper ever, attending since the age of 3 years- old. He currently plays shortstop at Dawson Community College in Montana. Jackson is an Instructor and Team Leader with Batter Up's summer camps and works both the Canadian and U.S. camps.
Mackenzie Irving
Mackenzie has been a part of Batter Up since she was 5 years old. She played both college softball and basketball for Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona. She is currently finishing her degree in Education at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Elijah Morales
Elijah has been playing baseball since he was 6 years old. Since then he has played at Dawson Community College in Montana and for the Nicaraguan National Team. Elijah has been involved with Batter Up as both a volunteer and instructor.
Eli Oughton
Eli has been at Batter Up since he was 7 years old. He currently plays shortstop for McMaster University and coaches the 14u AAA Mississauga majors. He has been coaching with Batter Up for a number of years now and is a tremendous asset to our spring and summer programs.
Susie Irving
Susie works with Batter Up Baseball's Little Batters program and has been a tremendous asset to the instructing staff. She leads Game On Camps Soccer Program and is on a Soccer Scholarship at the University of Jamestown in North Dakota. She spends her summers instructing at both the Canadian and U.S. camps with Batter Up.
Katie Matheson-Green
Katie a former college softball player at Laurier University in Canada. She is a softball instructor for Batter Up and has been a lead instructor for more than a decade. Katie works the Fall, Winter, and Spring Programs.
Jackson Pike
Jackson has been with Batter Up since he was 8 years old. Camp has been the highlight of his summer as a camper, volunteer and now as an instructor. Jackson is currently attending Guelph University.
Sabrina Chau
Sabrina has been with Batter Up as both a volunteer and now as an instructor. She plays Rep fastpitch with Mississauga North Tigers, the 2025 Provincial Champions.
Simon Torrance
Simon first started attending Batter Up when he was just 6 years old. Since then he has volunteered and he is now super excited to be one of our instructors! Simon plays baseball with the Mississauga Majors.
Evelyn Godfrey
Evelyn has played REP softball through PWSA for 6 years. She has been with Batter Up for 3 years, first as a volunteer and now is an instructor .
Alexa Cull
Alexa attended Batter Ups first ever Softball camp at 13 years old, since then she has played softball through PWSA and volunteered at the Batter Up baseball and softball programs. Alexa is super excited to continue with Batter Up as an instructoré
Luke Heinbuch
Luke played shortstop for the 2022 Provincial Champs - 18U EBLO Mississauga Majors. He was a camper at Batter Up when he was younger and is always excited to be coaching at Batter Up
David Walling
David has been playing baseball since he was 4 years old. He played Elite baseball with the Ontario Royals for four years before going to play at Siena Heights University in Michigan. David has been involved in Batter Up programs year round since 2024.

Braden Lewis
Braden started at Batter Up as 6 years old, since then he has volunteered in our summer program and now is an instructor. Braden plays for the Mississauga Twins.
LEADERSHIP
VOLUNTEERS
Batter Up Baseball’s student volunteers are fun, helpful and have helped create an intergenerational culture of care in our camps and programs. Many are returning players who spent their summers at Batter Up’s camp and want to come back to be a part of the leadership and the fun. Several of our student volunteers have gone on to be hired as staff.
